Claire K. Stringer is an artist of the moment. She finds creative inspiration in the multi-faceted and ever-changing diamond of life and expresses it through painting, drawing, writing, music, dance, or any outlet that piques her imagination. For Claire, art is an extension of the richness and pleasures of life. Her works and processes are about honoring life--even when art becomes a salve for life's most challenging or painful moments. Like the rainbow-colored reflections of a diamond, life is ephemeral, flowers grow and bloom, they die and life begins over again. People come and go from our lives, change is the only consistent. These concepts play in Claire's work, and she endeavors to hold them with clairity and also humor.
Being "in the studio" is one of life's greatest joys for Claire, whether it's painting, drawing, collage, recording voice and music, or dancing with others. When she's not in the studio, she loves to travel, do yoga, be with horses, and contemplate how to make the world a better place.
Claire was born in Charleston, South Carolina. She studied fine art at The Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia and received her BFA from The School of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston. She concentrated in painting, drawing and photography, and has been cultivating her personal layered and intricate style of ink wash painting since those early years. After completing her schooling in Boston, she relocated to New York City, and continued her studio practice and her studies at the Art Students League and the Fashion Institute of Technology. Claire has had solo shows in New York City, South Carolina and California and participated in group and juried shows nationally. Currently, Claire K. Stringer lives and works in the Hollywood Hills of Los Angeles.
